You Can't Become a Legend in Your Time
Unless You Become One in Your Own Mind
This may seem like a silly statement, but in a very real way it's true. We become what we believe. What goes on in our minds controls every outcome of our life.
William James, the father of American psychology wrote, “The power to move the world is in your subconscious mind,” —where all of your wisdom and beliefs reside.
If you don't believe in yourself and your dreams, your subconscious mind will not let that happen. Therefore, you must pay a great deal of attention to your thoughts and actions—for they reveal your innermost beliefs. To change your outer world you must change your inner world; the outer and inner must always match.
This is the secret to success in life. On some level it's a secret we all know, and it is definitely a secret that's been known for millenniums.
In the ancient world, Hermes Trismegistus was reputed to be the greatest, most powerful magus the world had ever known. When his tomb was opened centuries after his passing there was a great expectancy, for inside the tomb the greatest secrets of the world were inscribed. Here is what was found. The greatest secret proclaimed:
As within, so without;
as above, so below.
Your inside world will reflect your outside world. This is not something new; it has been said over and over again—by Moses, Isaiah, Jesus, Buddha, Zoroaster, Lao-tzu. You’d think by now we’d get it!
I hope that you now will be aware of and pay a great deal of attention to this greatest secret. For in that awareness and attention you can create the life you want.
We all need to become legends in our own minds.
“Most of the shadows in our life are caused by standing in our own sunshine.”
—Emerson
