First Step
One of the hardest things most people have to do is to take that first step, to make the decision to do something. Once we make the decision, we can then move towards our goal. When we fail to make a decision, we remain adrift. There is no DO, and no ACTION without decision.
Sometimes our inaction is due to the "What ifs..." This is when we project too far ahead and our fear starts talking and taking over. We have to be aware of our thoughts, particularly those that sabotage our actions. We have to focus on today, just today. Sometimes we don't even know what the next step will be until we get started. So why worry about what may come?
Remember the following from high school physics: A body in motion stays in motion unless acted on by an outside force. A body at rest stays at rest until acted on by an outside force. If you are stationary, the outside force is your decision; what stops the outside force is usually fear. We have to have faith and create motion by taking the first step.
"Faith is taking the first step, even when you don't see the whole staircase." ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
