Where Would You Like to be in 3 years or 5 Years
Where would you like to be? What would be your perfect life? What would you be doing for a career or work? Where would you be living? How would you be spending your time? Most people when presented with these questions will start to think about what they want and almost immediately dismiss the thought as if it were unattainable. Why? This is usually the time our negative self-talk kicks in and begins to say thing like, “Stop dreaming,” “That’ll never happen,” “It’s impossible,” or “Get your head out of the clouds.” Once the inner conflict starts, the noise can drown out our dreams, our vision. We slam on the brakes and that is what prevents us from taking action.
Here is a tip: think about small steps you can take each day. Small steps are easy; they are less likely to trigger fears or negative self -talk.
Success is about having a dream, a vision of what you want, and holding to it. Next it is taking small steps, sometimes very small steps, each day. Remember “Rome wasn’t built in a day, but some part of it was.” Life is patience…persistence… and perseverance. Yes, patience, persistence and perseverance.
For example, let’s suppose you want a college education. Your small step today would be to look up the website for a local college. Your vision may include buying a new home or building one. So today you could buy a magazine and start looking at pictures and designs. This is how the process starts.
Maybe your vision includes earning more money for that home, education, travel, or retirement. You need to Find A Way to earn more money. So maybe you look for extra time at work. You could work to improve yourself and your skills, personal development, to get a raise. You could look for a part-time job or start a small business on the side. There are all types of things you can do. Thing is, if you do nothing, then three to five years from now, you'll be in the same position you are in today and you'll throw up your hands and go, “See, you can’t win.” Your life and how you live it is your choice based on what you chose. Make your choices. Start taking small actions today in line with what you really want.
