Footprints In the Sand

And, departing leave behind us footprints in the sands of time.

~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

This is a stanza in Longfellow's poem  "A Psalm of Life ." Footprints in the sand remind me of two things: One is what legacy do I (you) want to leave? What will my (your) epitaph read? I hope mine reads: Lived well, loved well, did lots, laughed a  lot, and made others laugh too, overcame fear and took risks, embraced challenge, taught others by example, helped others to develop themselves.

One can only hope...no...actually one can work at this.

The second thing it reminds me of is that anything we want to learn, to do, and to succeed at or achieve, there are "footprints in the sand." No matter what you want we can find footprints and follow them. We don't need to reinvent the wheel, we can use it or modify it, make it better. Very little is a mystery. Most wisdom and methods have been around for decades, even centuries. We just have to find them and use them.

Charles "Tremendous" Jones said "Who you are in five years will be determined by two things: #1, the books you read, and #2, the people you associate with..." I'll add one thing: "actually following the foot prints in the sand."

It's your choice, find the footprints that will get you where you want to go and follow them; stay on the path until you get there.

Find A Way.
