Opportunities

Opportunities are everywhere. We just have to be open and look for them. Part of being open is deciding on and knowing what we want. If we don't know what we want, we will never see the opportunities that are right in front of our face.

During the course of my lifetime I have started eight businesses, owned 28 pieces of real estate either by myself or with other people, for a total market value today of approximately $8.4 million. (Darn! I knew I should've kept them all!) But that's not the point; the point is there are opportunities everywhere. Let me tell you one more fact. Not a single one of the businesses or properties I owned was more than 12 miles from my office. These were the opportunities I chose to take advantage of. Without a doubt, there were 10 times more available, but I did not take advantage of them because I wasn't paying attention, or I hadn't decided that was what I wanted to do, or I allowed fear or other people’s thinking to sway my own.

There are no shortages of opportunities close to your own backyard. But, you do need to decide to look for them and be open to finding them. Opportunities are everywhere. Be open.
