Soar

One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar.

~ Helen Keller

A dear friend of mine sent me this quotation. She knows I have a passion for reading and learning from the wisdom of others. I read quotations and positive material to keep me focused, energized, and enthused.

There are many wise sayings that we don't pay much attention to, such as the one above. I often do not like to reference people like Helen Keller, Gandhi, Mother Teresa, or JFK-- people who are deemed to be larger-than-life. I think it's too difficult to identify with them because they seem so extraordinary. I feel it might even be de-motivating to some people, causing one to downplay one's own contributions because they are not, comparatively speaking, big enough.

I'll never be a Mother Teresa or a John F. Kennedy. I really don't want to be or need to be like them in order to make a difference. I only have to be the best that I can be, based on my talents, to make a difference in this life.

The lesson here is that we must not stray from our paths. We must strive every day to become who we are meant to be. It is your job to live your life as fully as you can; to be all that you can be; to soar to whatever heights you desire. The only one who will ever truly stop you... is you. Make the commitment today and every day to let your life soar.
