The Law of Success Is Impersonal
Too often people look at successful people and correlate their success with talent, genius, or luck (being in the right place at the right time). The first two, certainly, play a role. Yet, in truth, the law of success is impersonal.
What do I mean? Most people have the intelligence and the talent, and they can learn the skills necessary to success in life. But often we turn a blind eye to the possibilities, coming up with all kinds of excuses...which are just that...excuses. My definition of luck is "when preparation meets opportunity." In other words, you have to put yourself in luck's way.
If you don't believe me, how do you explain people of similar background, skills, talents, and intelligence who are in the same business or job, yet they performed differently? One may be extremely successful, the other not. Many times, even people with less talent or intelligence and mediocre skills will be more successful. How to explain that? And most of us have heard stories of a person coming from a horrible background and with no apparent advantages, and yet in spite of their circumstances, they become very successful.
Nearly every one of us has the same opportunities. The only difference is the actions taken. These people muster what talents they have and use those talents to the best of their ability.
This is the secret to that age-old question: how did they do it? The secret is, there is no secret. It's right in front of you and always has been. As you go forward in your life, forget what others are doing, unless you are looking for positive role models. Think about what you can do, what you want to do. And start taking small set steps towards those goals. The law of success is impersonal and its secrets are open to you.
Here are the secrets:
- Decide what you want. Take the time to think about what you really want.
- Vision: Continually focus on the positive vision of what you want, cast out other thoughts.
- Know yourself: You have to know yourself, your strengths to capitalize on and your weaknesses to find help with.
- Set goals and plan. Write down what you want and what steps you'll take.
- Think: Pay close attention to your thinking; keep your thoughts positive.
- Take action: a body in motion tends to stay in motion.
- Adjust: tt's easy to get off track; keep adjusting as life changes.
- Review your plans. Continually reviewing you plans keeps you moving.
- Focus: keep your eye on your goal.
- Find support: you can find people to help you with any one of the above secrets. Surround yourself with the people who can and will help you.
- Be grateful each day for each lesson, and everyone and thing you have.
- Help others: helping others helps us all, and inadvertently helps us.
The laws of success are impersonal and they are simple. The most important of which is what you think about. You create what you want. The number one secret is to pay attention to what you're thinking. If you want to change your life, change your thinking. For those who are successful, the only difference is their thinking.
